Webs on Beech Hedges...

17 October 2010

Now, as everyone (probably on the planet by now) knows, I really do not like spiders...
This is not to say that I don't appreciate what a useful job they do... but I prefer not to share my house with them... and my family pretty much know to put the spider outdoors (alive) when they find one... lurking with intent...

having said all of that... outdoors... I can appreciate the perfection of their web building skills...

the absolute beauty of their homes...

is utterly awesome...

These webs were all photographed on my morning walk on Cavehill and were all either on a Beech twig or in the beech hedgerow...

This beautiful web has either caught something or is under construction... but isn't it amazing the way the spider has anchored main strands to every single point of the Beech twig...

I loved this photograph with the the ivy stems on the tree trunk and the grass in the background.  It was quite difficult to catch the web in focus... all of these web photographs were taken using my mobile phone (Sony Ericsson C510).  It actually takes reasonably clear images...  I am very excited though... I am getting a DSLR camera for Christmas so it will be interesting to see if my web photos next Autumn improve...
