How creativity seems to colour every day of my life

Waterfall and beech...

3 December 2010

I took these photos a few days ago and really liked them...  I thought it would be nice to see the last of Autumn as Winter is now coming in with a bite.  We are forecasted with 6" of snow by mid-morning, but my mum and Steffi in Kent have over a foot of snow and their tiny local shop is out of all the basic food...  This is of course the problem with being rural...

I love macro photography or what Bryan Peterson calls Close-Up Photography in his book Understanding Close-Up Photography... it probably is what I do as I don't actually have a macro lens but I do try to get as close to my subject as possible with the equipment that I do have...
In late Autumn when the leaves have fallen from the trees it is possible to step off the path, over a low stone wall... and gaze a long way down to the waterfall splashing into the pool... The sides of the glen are very very steep at this point...

I loved how the beech leaves had hung on in this spot, sheltered by the hedge along the lane...

this is my favourite of the photos I love how the twigs remind me of  netting with the leaves caught within it a bit like a shoal of tiny fish...

I liked how the shape of the branch echoed the movement of the waterfall below...
