I have noticed something as I was knitting the first sock using the beautiful and subtly changing Drops Delight... this sock wool has such a long repeat that I have knit the whole of the first sock without reaching the end of the repeat... initially this caused me a little bit of consternation... I am the sort of person who likes things to match.
On a Sasha doll sweater I will carefully unravel and snip each colour in a repeat in half so that my sleeves match. Even my husband has been known to say as I sit measuring small strands of yarn mumbling to myself that perhaps it won't matter if the sleeves don't match... "you know you won't be happy with it if you don't make them match"... Even where the colours grade through each other without a "real" match I am usually able to do something that will look "like" it matches...

In this case as the two balls of Delight start at completely different points in their beautiful non-repeating colour scheme it really does mean that my socks are not going to look the same... a major departure from the perfectionist norm for this sock knitter... hmmm... well I suppose I am supposed to be stretching myself to try new things... didn't really expect it to be with knitting unmatching socks but that is the nature of doing something different... I shall start the second sock with a level of consternation but I am sure I will love this quirky pair of socks when they are finished... Drops have obviously designed the wool this way...
Started by casting on 60sts and have knit the sock using 2.5mm knitpicks wooden dpn's.
