10 December 2010
With the arrival of the Extension tubes... I have been fascinated by just how close up I can see something.
This image is of the beautiful David Austin Rose which has a coating of ice on its outer petals...
I am so amazed at how much detail can be captured...
and became absorbed by the sculptural quality of the ice on the petals...
The sunlight was making the ice glitter...
I loved the abstract shapes created by the petals...
and the lines of the veins on the petals showing through the coating of ice...
I was really inspired by a beautiful image on Macro Monday earlier this week... it is Randi Mahl's Frozen Rose (Today's Flower on 5th December)... I have absolutely no idea if the photo I love was taken with a filter or was manipulated in photoshop... but I loved the abstract quality and the lovely colour... and went looking for a rose in my garden... rather hopefully...
Isn't nature utterly miraculous at the beauty that can be found...
on a cold December day?

beautiful photography :)
Beautiful light and clarity in these macro shots - I cannot believe the rose can look so lovely after being out in the cold of winter.
