How creativity seems to colour every day of my life

Macro Monday... Fishing Net Detritus...

6 December 2010

These macro photographs were taken on Sunday 28 November using a Nikon D3000 with a Nikon 55-300mm lens.  It wasn't the ideal choice of lens for the close up photographs but it was too windy and dusty to risk trying to change to my 18-55mm lens...

Macro Monday at Lisa's Chaos...

I love to take a photograph that shows the close up photographs in context of their surroundings...

The piece of fishing net was tangled up in the seaweed at the edge of the surf...

I loved the texture and colour of the net...

against the natural materials surrounding it...

The contrast between the knotted net and the frothy bubbly surf...

The turquoise colour contrasted wonderfully with the rust and brown tones of the seaweed and pebbles...

One of the comments that Bryan Peterson makes in his book Understanding Close-up Photography is about the most common mistake that amateur photographers make when they first start to create close-up or macro photographs... not filling the frame... so I tried to remember this when I was looking through my viewfinder taking these images...  Fill the Frame...  at least with what I want to see in there...

Sorry...I left my comment for your macro in the post below.

How beautiful! The beach is ever intriguing!

These are amazing shots. Love them. I will have to try to keep in mind to take a shot of the full picture as well. It really puts it into perspective.

Nice shots- I can smell the salt!

The water looks wild in these photos. My how the netting shows up against the background making it look quite pretty... EVEN IF IT IS LITTER.

Look´s cold !
Hope your new shoes kept your toes dry and warm :)
Great pictures all of them !

Great book, one I recently finished reading. I'd never expect a net to this incredible color.

I love the first shot... your seascapes are like paintings!

It takes a good eye to see the beauty in what is often considerd "crap". I love it!

You've captured some great details in those nets!
