Macro Monday at Lisa's Chaos... and now one of my favourite days of the week...
My favourite shrubs in the garden are my magnolias...
They are stately, stunning and extraordinary at all times of the year...
Okay I am still "playing" with my new Kenko extension tubes... these were taken with the 36mm one and my Nikon 55-200mm lens... I love how completely different the image can look depending upon what part is the main focal point and also the angle that the photo is taken at...
In this photograph I wanted to catch the ice crystals in focus but also the curl of the leaf... I wanted to try to capture a sense of depth...
whereas in this picture I wanted the focal point to be on the ice crystals and for the magnolia leaf to become a backdrop of beautiful colour and texture.
Then I looked up and the sunshine was glowing through another dead magnolia leaf...
So I couldn't resist taking a couple of photographs of this leaf as well...
frustration... frustration... still waiting for the tripod to arrive...

Somehow my comment on this post went astray into the previous one. Sorry.
Lovely details of both the ice crystals and the structure of the leaf.
What fabulous photos!!! Great textures too.
