Last night it started to snow again...
Soft light fluffy flakes that seem to settle on everything they touch.
Our lucky horseshoe...
There was a couple of inches lying on the ground and the bird table when I went to bed around midnight.
By morning we had about 5" of snow. I looked into the fridge and thought yipes... need to buy some groceries... looked at the road and the still falling snow and decided I would have to venture out sooner rather than later if I was to be able to get home again as we have to drive up a steep slope to reach our house.
The twigs were all holding an inch or more of snow and the hungry little birds were starting to gather...
I love the contorted willow... It is a beatiful shrub that is prettiest in winter when its curving branches and twigs are most obvious.
And my lovely fluffy magnolia buds are all coated with snow...
I made it back after 3 hours with groceries... A journey that usually takes about 10 minutes to the shop was much much longer and I passed many abandoned cars on the main road some with crumpled bumpers and sides... Aweful driving conditions but now we can look forward to roast chicken dinner tomorrow night...
Of course, now we worry in case family won't be able to get home for Christmas...
