The coot is a cousin of the beautiful moorhen...
It is such an elegant bird... with its beautiful black plumage and pure white beak...
I really enjoyed photographing the coot at the upper reservoir at the Waterworks in North Belfast...
Swimming near the dead bullrushes...
I tried to get a closeup of the coot...
although its plumage is black it looks silvery grey in the sunlight...
I love this photo of the coot with the ripples surrounding it...
After paddling around in the bulrushes for a while...
It headed off to meet a couple of is friends...
And I definitely think the coot is more than a little cute...

I agree...the coot is cute. You have a lovely blog. If GFC is working again, I will be a new follower.
Thanks for the visit today to The Gardening Life.
Hmmm...you don't have a means of following your blog. I'll have to bookmark it instead.
Nice shots of the coot. It is kinda cute but those feet.... :-D
I've never seen a coot before. These are dreamy shots!
THE BEST WATER
With water they say that the best
Is clearest when put to the test;
No sediment there
To cause wear and tear—
Pure water sure beats all the rest!

I think they are very cute. That last photo of the three together is just beautiful.
Great shots of the coot! I don't ever remember seeing this bird before although I know they do exist in North America.
